Spotted: Co-create London

London based Co-creation agency Face Group is asking Londoners how to make their city a better place through the website http://www.cocreatelondon.com/

Although right now it isn’t more than a simple ideabox which isn’t exactly co-creation, the idea has potential. The final ideas generated by the public are pitched to the mayor of London.

Of course it would have had more impact if the mayor would participate in the online discussions himself. Right now there’s the risk of the platform becoming one-way traffic.

Good stuff is that you only need a username and password to register and you can sign-in with your Twitter or Facebook account.

Site navigation is a bit tricky and ideas with little votes disappear fast. Finally, the site quickly attracts people trying to be funny as these ideas depict: “Free deordorant for tramps, preferably Right Guard original coz it’s a nice smell.” or “Clean up the Thames and put some fancy fish, crustaceans and, if possible, a few dolphins in there.“.

As we at RedesignMe noticed also, governmental types of co-creation have a long way to go, but it’s never too early to start.

  1. Hi guys, thanks for reviewing cocreatelondon.

definitely agree with your point about navigation as it is now, however we needed to go live asap and generally we’d rather do many iterations and small deployments than fewer ones with more features. I guess we decided to roll out the most basic working version possible, see how people use it and then take it from there. we’ll ping you when the next version’s up.

    keep up the great work!

    Hi Fran,

No need to apologize. We are a supporter of agile programming methods ourselves. Again, it’s a good start and I think you can gain a lot of traction with it as a lot of news programs probably would want to talk about it!

    Cheers
    Maxim
