NS Ticket Machine

by: Dutch National railways (NS)

The old machine had all options visible. The new one shows more options along the way. You even have to tell how you want to pay.

In my opinion it was a good decision to keep a good overview and peacefull view. Do people get a overview after they made their choices? That would also be usefull I think. Good luck

Another reason why it would not work, is the density of the Netherlands. For instance, your starting point: is it Meppel? Groningen? Leeuwarden?
Same goes for your final destination: Maastricht or maybe Meersen (because you got that little straightline)?

I know this machine is built solely on research, research and alot more research on usability. NS invested millions in the design of this machine.

Conclusion actually is that people from6 - 106 can use this machine very easily and fault % is much lower than the old machines. Machine is faster and more user-friendly than the old ones..

blanka wrote: Oct 24 2007 9:08 am I do not agree on its fastness. The old zip-code one is way faster, since all the hits are visible at the moment you start using it, and the response is immediate. Another thing that bothers me is the letter-system to choose a city. After you press the A, you get a new set of letters. It is not clear that they want to know the second letter. Please put 2 letters on the button. The one you chose allready and the second one.

Blanka wrote: Oct 24 2007 9:08 am Other issue: it does not allow to select a different depart station then the one you are at. The old machines do have an option for this.

Blanka wrote: Oct 24 2007 9:08 am Last thing: when you have 2 similar lines of people in front of an old and a new machine, the old one is always faster! The best proof the new one is NOT easier.

Just read the text next to the blue 'departure station square'...

    You have to PIN, thanks!
